The Doodle Pro is a wonderful thing. It’s almost like a an Etch-a-Sketch, but for younger kids. It’s definitely a great time-waster for little ones while at restaurants waiting for food to arrive, or in the back seat in traffic, or on an airplane… There are many times where you just need a few minutes!

I love this idea. The Color Your Own Placemat itself is a large fairly detailed black-and-white image, and it comes with 6 non-toxic markers. Your kids can color to their heart’s content, then at the end of the meal wash off the placemat, and you’re all ready for the next meal!

Sometimes it’s nice to know that other people are going through the same thing as you, if not worse. And that’s where How to Fit a Carseat on a Camel comes in. This hilarious yet touching book recaps some of the most horrible yet funny traveling with kids stories ever. It won’t scare you, and it might even give you a little more patience!

The Alex Travel Tote performs to great functions. First of all, it has lots of storage space for art supplies, games, snacks, and other road trip necessities. Secondly, it attaches to the seat belt in between two youngsters, forming a barrier to reduce bickering after a long day in the car. Brilliant!

We previously featured a lap desk for road trips, but this one is much better for kids. The Desk to Go has two big pockets for all sorts of writing and drawing supplies, plus space for a big paper pad. It’s nice to have something geared toward kids – they are much more likely to use it!

Table Toppers are an awesome thing to carry with you on a trip – you never know when you might be unable (or unwilling!) to wipe off an eating surface or play table. Just pop one of these out, and you’ve instantly lessened the chances that your little one will catch any germs. But now the Table Toppers are biodegradable! No more guilt about sending more plastic to the landfills! Yay!

This fun travel game is great even for the little kids. The innovative flip-style pieces don’t get lose, and it’s a lot of fun! And it’s from Melissa and Doug, so you know it’s high quality!

I’m all for making things easier to carry. Between the diaper bag, stroller, toys, extra coats and kids, I’m loaded down way more than enough. So when I see a product like these towel pills at ThinkGeek, I’m all over it. Each pill is about the size of an altoid, and when placed in water it grows to an 11″ x 9″ multipurpose towel. It’s an easy way to car a bunch of towels in the car or on a plane. Combine this with the Dissolving Travel Toiletries and you’ve really got it made!

The Mini Diaper Dude Bag is the perfect bag for short excursions while on trips. It has all the pockets you need, without the size and weight of a standard diaper bag. And it looks good, too.

After the silliness of the edamame keychain last week, here’s an actually awesome travel idea – dissolving travel toiletries. I’ve seen the dissolving soap at The Container Store, but ThinkGeek has dissolving shampoo and body wash, too. Not only is this a great idea for adults, but kids would get a kick out of this! They are TSA compliant, and with 50 sheets in a pack they’ll last all weekend!
